WebSocrates is on the side that knowledge is superior and all powerful and so it rules man. Protagoras believes that knowledge although being all powerful is treated like a slave as what rules man is not knowledge but other emotions such as anger, love, pleasure, pain, courage, and sometimes even fear. WebSocrates was the wisest philosopher of his time. He was the first of the three great teachers of ancient Greece—the other two being Plato and Aristotle. Today he is ranked as one of the world’s greatest moral teachers. His self-control and powers of endurance were unmatched. In appearance he was short and fat, with a snub nose and wide mouth.
WebSocrates’ argument for Form Otherness is based on the notion that every particular object participates in a Form. The Form excludes the essence and permits the existence of the rest. In this way, every object has a form only for its particulars. Thus, an object has neither an essence nor a non-greek essence. WebDuring his life Socrates was predominantly interested in ethics. Self-knowledge is a sufficient condition to the good life. Socrates identifies knowledge with virtue. If knowledge can be learned, so can virtue. Thus, Socrates states virtue can be taught. He believes “the unexamined life is not worth living.”.
